I have tried to explain how unexpectedly exalted

you make me feel when all I should have said

 

is half The Headrow, heads high, has halted

as the men from the council cut back the lavender bed.

Ben Verinder lives in rural Hertfordshire. He holds an MA in Writing Poetry from Newcastle University and the Poetry School. His poems have been published widely, including in The Rialto, Brittle Star, Stand, Lighthouse, The North, And Other Poems, and Wild Court. His debut pamphlet, Botanicals, was published by Frosted Fire in autumn 2021 and his second, We Lost The Birds, by Nine Pens in March 2023.
